Erewash is a local government district and borough in eastern Derbyshire. It contains the towns of Ilkeston, Long Eaton and Sandiacre and fourteen civil parishes.

The borough was formed on 1 April 1974 by the merger of the Borough of Ilkeston, the Long Eaton urban district and part of South East Derbyshire Rural District. The borough council’s headquarters are split between each of the main urban areas at Long Eaton and Ilkeston Town Halls.

The Erewash Borough Council is currently controlled by Conservatives, with their majority increased in the May 2015 elections from 1 to 13.
