Following reports by the Derby Telegraph that Derby City Council are planning to scrap school crossing patrols, Conservative MP for Derby North Amanda Solloway has launched a public petition to show the level of demand for the service.
Urging the council to scrap their plans, Amanda said: “Lollipop ladies and men have been a key part of trips to school for as long as I can remember. They do such a great job in protecting children and making their journey as safe as possible. The work they do is invaluable, and I want to show Derby City Council just how important they are. I’m asking local people to sign my petition so that we can urge the council to rethink the plans and keep our children safe.”
Parents, teachers, and pupils are all encouraged to sign the petition to show the council the level of demand for the service.
Residents can sign the petition on the homepage of Amanda’s website, and physical copies are available from the constituency office at 01332 545154.
